09 June 2023
Graduated from the department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ETCE) in Jadavpur University, Prof. Rabindranath Nandi (aka Prof. Rabin Nandi) recently donated Rs. 51 lacs. He was in the first batch (1966) of the department of ETCE. He is now an Emeritus Professor of the department. In the past, he was a Visiting Professor with the National Science Council of Taiwan, Taipei, Taiwan, National Kyungpook University, Daegu, Korea, and Cukurova University, Adana, Turkey. In 1990, he visited the Technical University of Brno, Brno, Czechoslovakia, under the National Research Exchange Program of India. He authored more than 120 research papers in international journals/conference proceedings in the areas of analog/digital/mixed mode circuits and communication systems. Prof. Nandi is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India). He served as the Chair of the IEEE Calcutta Section during 2003–2005. He is currently the Chair of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Chapter of the Calcutta Section.
Jadavpur’s ETCE department carries a long legacy of being one of the finest academic programs producing over 3300 graduate engineers since the 1960s. However, the department’s laboratories are now not up to date due to lack of funding for maintenance of equipment and infrastructures. This donation from Prof. Nandi is an inspiration to other alumni worldwide. On behalf of GJUAF, we thank Prof. Nandi for the kind gesture. We expect other alumni from the department would come forward to help the department.
