To provide a platform for global JU Alumni, to meet & share their ideas for assisting JU (students/ research scholars and professors/departments) through working with JU administrators with the goal of JU becoming a world class university.
GJUAF is operated as a Foundation, bringing alumni of the world on a common platform, for the benefit of JU – students, professors, research scholars and facilities. There is no member in GJUAF. There is no subscription to join GJUAF. GJUAF focusses on developing innovative programs working with JU professors and head of the departments. For example, GJUAF is developing “Integrated Circuits – a Center of Excellence” for the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department; assisting one-of-a-kind program for Bengali literature for the School of Culture Text Records. These examples substantiate GJUAF’s mission for Jadavpur University. Many innovative programs will be implemented in the future.

GJUAF is in the process of collecting information from various departments (Mechanical/ Electrical/Chemistry / English / CSE/Physics and Chemical Engineering) about their needs. GJUAF will evaluate projects submitted by various departments, the funding of these projects will depend upon the availability of funds. One-of-a kind project has been launched in 2023 on Integrated Circuits – a Center of Excellence at the Electronics Telecommunication Engineering Department.
Financial transparency is extremely important to GJUAF. GJUAF and JU’s Finance Office maintain ledgers (spreadsheets) for donations received and monitor expenses incurred for each of the projects. The Procurement process for materials and services for various department adheres to the policies and procedures of JU. GJUAF ensures maintaining auditable documentations both at the JU’s Finance Office and at GJUAF’s office in the USA.
Our plan is to engage a group of dedicated local alumni for each department to monitor closely the progress of the execution in coordination with the HOD and JU assigned contractor for the completion of the project. GJUAF members responsible for the project will maintain communications with the local alumni and HOD. The project completion report will be prepared accounting for cost and operability of the system.
Our plan is to make continuous engagement with alumni around the world and include non-alumni (Friends of JU) who believe in the GJUAF’s mission for supporting JU to become one of the best academic and research institution in the world. GJUAF believes this process as “Friend Raising” than “Fund Raising “. This is a collaborative effort, and everyone’s ideas will be entertained.
The methods to contribute/donate can be found on the website. For alumni/donors residing in the USA, a tax exemption certificate (501 c 3) from GJUAF will be provided.
