Overview

The proposal of procurement of new instruments for UG Chemical Engineering Laboratories such as Reaction Engineering Laboratory, Unit Operation Laboratory, Energy Engineering Laboratory will directly provide hands-on-training to various Chemical Industry relevant processes to make the student industry ready and globally competitive. The Chemical Reaction Engineering Lab in our undergraduate program offers students valuable hands-on experience that complements the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom. The lab experiments are thoughtfully designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of chemical kinetics and the operation of various reactors. Unit operations and unit process are the building blocks of Chemical industries and therefore chemical engineering studies are principally focused on acquiring theoretical and practical knowledge on Unit operations. Unit operation laboratory offers hands-on practice and application of industrially important laboratory scale equipment whose operation are based on heat transfer-mass transfer-momentum transfer phenomena. Experience in operating unit operation laboratory equipment becomes the preliminary knowledge for undergraduate students to serve industries. In Energy engineering laboratory students get a chance to experimentally infer the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in Energy Engineering and Chemical Technology class which includes lessons on petroleum refinery.

Benefits to students and JU

The hands-on training at the lab with new instruments will make the students industry ready and globally competitive and complement theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom. This upgrade will also reduce the dependency on a single piece of equipment as the number of seats in UG class has been increased to 120 while each section has a strength of 60 students.
