Dr. Baren Talukdar

President 2023-25: JUAAGA (Jadavpur University Alumni Association of Georgia, USA).

Dr. Talukdar is a 1966 Civil Engineering Graduate of JU.  He is a Registered Professional Engineer of several States in US. He is Life Fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers (F. ASCE), Fellow of American Concrete Institute (F. ACI) and Fellow of Indian Institute of Engineers (F. IE).  He just retired from Westinghouse Savanna River Company working for Department of Energy (DOE). He also served Westinghouse overseas office in Brussels for Swedish Project.

Dr. Talukdar is actively involved in ASCE and ACI. He served as President of ASCE SC Section being the First Asian to serve that position. He is a participating member of a number of ACI Standards (Code) Committees.

 

Recognitions:

  • Dr. Talukdar was recognized by ASCE SC Section for his contributions to ASCE and the Community as “South Carolina Civil Engineer of the Year” (2004-05), “Service to People” Award (1997-98), “Section Service Award” (1994-95), and Section “Leadership” Award- (2002-03).
  • Recognized by ASEI as “Service to Community” Award in 1997.

 

Community Services:

  • Served as Director of the Board of ASEI (American Society of Engineers of Indian Origin).
  • President, Chairman, Board of Director, IACA of Augusta (Indo-American Cultural Association of Augusta)
  • Trustee and Member of BOD, Hindu Temple Society of Augusta.
  • Served/serving several other Community Organizations in various capacities.
  • Serving Management Committee (MC) of India-American Cultural Association of Atlanta.

Organized Community Events to Raise Funds to help Local Community Institutions, like “Home for Abused Children”, Augusta, “Shelter for Abused Women”, Augusta, and for Victims of Chile Earthquake, Victims of Tsunami in South-East Asia, and lately for Victims of Nepal Earthquake.
